I am a Church of God pastor, Cleveland TN, living in central Florida. My wife and I have been here about five years. We have twin daughters and three wonderful grandchildren. Our house is quite noisy at times, because there’s a West Highland White Terrier and very happy gray cockatiel who currently act like they own the place. Come to think of it, they do get their way quite often.
My goal is to make heaven my home one day; Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. Until that day, however, the Lord, my family and I are on a wonderful journey together. God never promised smooth sailing, but He did promise to be with us through life’s circumstances. What a friend we have in Jesus; He’s the Rock we lean on.
After being raised in church all my life, I finally met the man Christ Jesus at an old non-denominational church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Easter Sunday, 1977. One thing I can truly say is this: the Lord is faithful. I have been blessed to serve God since then with a heartfelt desire to please Him in every area of my life. Understand, that has not always happened.
Now, about the name of the blog, From Preacherpen’s Desk. I have been collecting and using pens for a lot of years. If memory serves correctly, I first started collecting them while working at the Air Force hospital, Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. Fountain pens are, by far, my favorite writing devices; there’s lots of them in my collection. Writing with a finely crafted pen is a pleasurable experience for me, and if you don’t already, you might want to give a fountain pen another chance. I really enjoy writing, so, instead of taking my fountain pens to paper, I use the keyboard to put my thoughts on electronic pages.
This is my first blog, and, obviously, there’s quite a lot to learn. No doubt, the blog will change over time, and will surely improve. Thanks for stopping by. Come again, and bring someone with you. Pastor Ron Parish

It was interesting to find out that you are a Church Of God Pastor. My husband and I helped start a COG church in Burgaw, NC where we live, about five years ago. He was the youth pastor there, and I played piano and sang on the worship team.
Needless to say, sadly we aren’t there anymore because of some issues with the leadership that could not be resolved, but we had a great time serving in that ministry for a time. And God has moved us into a newer, bigger, season of ministry that we would never have known had He not moved us on. So what seemed like bad, he turned into good. He has a habit of doing that. 🙂
I’m looking forward to browsing around your blog more when I get some more time, and reading what’s in your heart. I’ll be back!!!

Central Florida – curios as to where. Mama and I spend the winter months about 30 miles west of Ocala – December thru April.
30 miles NW of Orlando on US 441. We have some wonderful visitors from Ohio who attend church with us regularly during the winter months.
Well, if you’re that close, you should come visit Mount Dora, especially during the Christmas season. It’s a beautiful little New England type town, and when the city puts the decorations up, it’s beautiful, indeed.
We would love to have you come worship with us, too.

Dave, it’s nice to have you here. I have communicated with your brother from time to time, and will do so with also. Yes, we must occupy to Christ comes, but to want to see heaven and live with the one true living God is something I believe we must all look forward to. Titus 1:1-2 declares “1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; 2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;” Dave, my hope is to make heaven my home; in the meantime, we must all fill the world with the gospel of Christ.

There are some links on the right hand side of this blog, and if you will click on Tucker’s Books, you will find the bible you are looking for. I’m quite sure there are other places on the net, and I have seen some of them, but Tucker’s does advertise that particular bible. Hope you find the one you want.

I most certainly do recommend Mepis as that is what I’ve been using for a long time now. It’s stable, fast, and simple to use. There is a new version being developed right now, and should be available soon. I am looking forward to seeing it in action.

No, but I’ve tried remembering on numerous occasions. How did you know the name of the church where I met Christ other than on this blog? I can still remember the day I got saved just as clearly as ever. I also remember some of the fine people who attended that wonderful church, no their names, but glimpses of them.
