Bible Study Questions – October 14

In Family Training Hour Questions, The Pastor's Blog on October 14, 2009 at 9:13 PM

bible-searchWords cannot describe how wonderful our bible study was tonight. Without a doubt, this was the best one to date, and that’s saying quite a lot. The pastor can hardly wait until next Wednesday night so we can do this all over again.

There was a struggle to answer the first question; many answers flew all over the room, but they weren’t correct. Finally, someone got the answer and we spent quite a while digging around determining background information. No doubt, we could have spent the entire time on this one alone, but didn’t.

Anyway, let’s get started on the questions. Please take the time to answer these questions; it will do you good as you study the word of God. Be blessed in your time in prayer and study.

  1. Where are the ark builder, vision interpreter and man who kept his integrity found?
  2. Which commandment is the most important of all? Where is it found in NT writings?
  3. Where is a charge given by a master teaching his student to preach according to various seasons?

Thanks for taking the time to participate. You will benefit greatly by spending time in your bible on a regular basis. Why not set aside a time every day to spend with God, getting to know him through his eternal word?

Bible Study Questions – September 23

In Family Training Hour Questions, The Pastor's Blog on September 23, 2009 at 9:03 PM

It’s time again for this week’s bible study questions, and you have an opportunity to get involved. It is vitally important to not only read the word of God, but also to study it. We need to learn from its wonderful stories and drink in the riches it unfolds. It is life to all who care enough to read the amazing promises of God through the pages of the most important book ever written.

Let’s get right into the questions. Please leave your answers in the comments section. If someone else has already given the answer, you are welcome to add your perspective, too. Let’s go:

  1. Who, or what country, is referred to as a broken reed?
  2. What were the disciples told to do in anticipation of receiving the Holy Ghost?
  3. Where is the story of Paul laying hands on disciples who didn’t know about the Holy Ghost?

As always, please provide the scripture reference in your answer and give plenty of detail. Why are we at that particular place? What brought the people to the place in the story? Feel free to leave as much detail as you want.

Bible Study Questions – September 9

In Family Training Hour Questions, The Pastor's Blog on September 9, 2009 at 10:05 PM

Hello, everyone. It’s time again for our weekly bible study, so get out your bibles and concordances so we can begin. We had a particularly good study tonight as more people contributed to the discussions. This is a great way to learn the scriptures; you certainly have to do some digging on some of the questions. We do try to mix things up a bit as we go along.

The word of God is full of stories, and these studies allow us to discover the scope and majesty of each one. I hope you will also enjoy answering these questions. As always, feel free to leave your answers even if someone else has already commented. You may just be able to explain the story in greater detail. Now, let’s get to it.

  1. Which prophet answered the call of God by declaring “send me?”
  2. To whom does the following refer: “Today I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you?”
  3. Who asked Jesus if he was the one who was to come, or should they look for someone else?

Remember, I want background information such as scripture where the answer is found, and the reason for the answer. This is how we learn, by digging and finding the context. Please give as much detail as you can; it’s interesting to see why the answer is what it is.

It’s time to answer our weekly bible study questions again; I hope you enjoy searching for the answers as much as my people do. We have found this method to be quite interesting and thought-provoking, too. I love to see interaction as we share the details of each story.  Without further ado, here are the questions:

  1. Which king made a covenant with the Lord while standing by a pillar?
  2. Where is the account of people being pricked in their hearts as they heard the word of God?
  3. Where is the description of the man of sorrows?

Remember, I want background information such as scripture where the answer is found, and the reason for the answer. This is how we learn, by digging and finding the context. Please give as much detail as you can; it’s interesting to see why the answer is what it is.

Bible Study Questions – August 26

In Family Training Hour Questions, The Pastor's Blog on August 26, 2009 at 9:08 PM

We had another great bible study tonight at Liberty Lighthouse Church of God. There was some very good discussion, and we learned some new things, too. It’s good to see people getting involved in these studies; everyone has something to add and no one knows it all. We can certainly learn from each other.

The questions we discussed tonight were not particularly difficult, but they did gender lots of interaction. I really like to dig into the background to get details. It’s important to read more than just the answer so we can determine why we’re there in the first place.

Ready? Here are the questions:

  1. What is our reward when we keep our mind stayed on the Lord?
  2. Where is the story of a man lame for 38 years?
  3. Where is the tongue compared to a fire?

Okay, let’s put up the answers. Please don’t hold back answering because someone else did. You might have more to add to the discussion or might look at it from a different angle.

Bible Study Questions – August 19

I’m one week late getting these questions into my blog post, but there is a very good reason for the delay. The pastor was out of town last week on some very important business, and was unable to post these until tonight. Anyway, it’s time to get your bibles and whatever study aids you use so we answer the questions. Are you ready?

As always, I want to see some background information when you leave your comments. Let me know the scripture reference(s), main characters and why we are there. Give as much detail as you possibly can, as others will be reading your comments, and this is a time of instruction and learning.

In my opinion, this is a great way to study the scriptures; it is certainly not the only method. Let me so bold as to recommend a book to you in case you would like additional instruction regarding the subject of bible study. Learn to Study the Bible is an excellent resource, and you would do well to take a look for yourselves. There are more books to look at here.

  1. Where is the story of 300 men fighting with trumpets & pitchers in their hands?
  2. What is the whole duty of man?
  3. Where is the story of four men tearing a roof up to get to Jesus?

Okay, you have the questions, so it’s time to get the answers.

Please don’t answer because someone else did. You just might have a different perspective and can add more details. Thanks.

Someone just pointed out the fact this week’s questions haven’t been posted yet, so here they are for your perusal and study. Get your thinking caps on and get with it; you will definitely be rewarded for your efforts.

This was an awesome service; the people just didn’t want to leave the sanctuary after our time was up. The youth came over to our class and hung out with us after their class was over. I’ll tell you, that is enjoying being with one another in the bond of Christ, and that’s exactly the way it should be. Are you ready? Let’s go!

  1. Where is the description of a voice crying in the wilderness?
  2. Where do you find a description of someone greater than Jonah and Solomon?
  3. Where do you find seven (or eight, depending on the translation you use) woes pronounced on Scribes and Pharisees?

Don’t forget to give some background information and most certainly give the scripture reference. Now answer away!

Okay, we just got home from Family Training Hour where we discussed our weekly questions. This was a particularly good lesson; the questions were not too hard, but just difficult enough to cause some extra digging. My people love this format because they have to research to find the answers, and we spend time discussing the reason(s) the answers are what they are. This is a good way to learn more about God’s wonderful word. You are welcome to join in the study with us.

  1. Where are we likened to birds escaping out of the fowler’s snares?
  2. What did God do to Judah because of Manasseh’s sins?
  3. How many sons of Saul died with him? Name them.

Don’t forget to give some background information and most certainly give the scripture reference. Now answer away!

Bible Study Questions – July 1

In Family Training Hour Questions, The Pastor's Blog on July 2, 2009 at 9:27 AM

By now, many of you know about the weekly bible study questions. For those who don’t, here’s the details: each week I give my students three questions at the end of our Family Training Hour service and they must research the answers during the week. When they come to service the following week, we answer and discuss what they’ve uncovered. Pretty simple. Sometimes the questions are difficult, but they are mostly pretty basic.

Last night we talked a lot about how to find the answers using a variety of resources. We discussed the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, bible versions, Google and bible software along with other tools. It was quite informative.

Anyway, here are the questions:

  1. Why do Jews and Samaritans not get along?
  2. What item did Jesus say was worthless if it had no taste?
  3. Which foreigner built a temple for the Jews?

Don’t forget to give some background information and most certainly give the scripture reference. Now answer away!

Who’s ready for some bible study questions? Are there any who want to take the challenge and put your answers here for everyone to see? Our church is really enjoying this format for Family Training Hour, and you might enjoy the questions, too.

Again, I want to see the scripture where the answer is found, and give some details as to context. I want to know some background information. In other words, why are we here at this answer? Please feel free to elaborate, but you don’t have to write a book. Thanks for your participation.

  1. How old was Solomon when he died?
  2. How many books did David write?
  3. Where do you find a writing instrument made with a tip of a diamond?

Now, let’s see some activity around here and come up with some great answers.
