President Obama’s Nobel Prize – There is no Defense

In Politics on October 13, 2009 at 9:50 PM

It was going to happen sooner or later, and the Nobel judges have not disappointed. Four of the five spoke out in defense of their decision to give President Obama the Nobel Peace Prize recently. What a sham they have made of this prestigious award. Their record of late has not been noteworthy. They have given the prize to some people who never should have been nominated, let alone be recipients.

There has been non-stop coverage of this travesty since the president received the news of the handout by the Nobel judges. I know many conservative talk show hosts have spent a great of time on the subject. It is such a shame the president continues to be an embarrassment to the citizens of our great nation.

According to an Associated Press article by Ian MacDougall and Karl Ritter, committee chairman Thorbjorn Jagland said “Alfred Nobel wrote that the prize should go to the person who has contributed most to the development of peace in the previous year, Who has done more for that than Barack Obama?”

The article goes on to say “World leaders have reacted positively to Obama’s Nobel in most cases, the committee said, with much of the criticism coming from the media and Obama’s political rivals.” I have a theory as to why world leaders have reacted positively to the president’s Nobel gift. It is simply that he wants to be just like them. People who are alike generally don’t have major problems between them; it’s those who are in direct opposition to someone’s values who stand a better chance of raising a great deal of ire.

Please note this one important fact – President Obama has done nothing worthy of this award. Perhaps he has thought long and hard about ways to make the world a better place, but so have many other people. I am confident we could find someone who would do the Nobel prize justice, it just isn’t our current president.

In an article by Denis Kilcommons of The Huddersfield Daily Examiner, he had the following to say: “Unfortunately, Obama has been seen as a global Messiah and the award has raised expectations even further of what he might achieve.”

What more can the prize committee do to further tarnish the award? According to ABC News, Rush Limbaugh called the Nobel prize committee’s decision “a bigger embarrassment than losing the Olympic bid,” and said, “He’s being judged on wishful thinking.” In my opinion, he needs to quit just wishing something will happen and begin to do what the Nobel prize alludes to. What has he really done?

No amount of talk by the Nobel Prize Committee will ever convince me President Obama is worthy of the prize. History has passed over some of the greatest men in favor of people who are just like the Obamas and Gores of the world. It really is sad. What do you think?

  1. I don’t really blame President Obama for getting the award, that distinction belongs to the committee who lost their minds and gave him the prize. He could have said no, I suppose, but I would have been surprised if he had done that. There is no way he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize and I believe the reason he received it has a lot to do with the committee’s attempt to encourage him to continue the path he is taking our country down.

    • I hadn’t looked at it the way you present the situation in the last sentence of your comment. Whatever the reason, the committee giving him the Nobel prize is indefensible. Yes, he could have refused the gift. Some of the parodies I’ve seen and heard are really quite sad. What ridiculous award will he win next?

  2. Is is really sad when we as a country still haven’t got to the point where we can just stop all this nonsense. Yes we have a Black President. Get over it. Stop trying so hard to tear down his Presidency and just like we would be very supportive of whoever the President was just as long as he was not a Black Man. If you use as much energy and time to help just think just how much further we would be as a nation. Stop Hating.

    • Lewis, thanks for dropping by and leaving your thoughts here.

If you really think there is an outcry because the president is black, you haven’t been listening to the American voice, haven’t been listening to unbiased news or just plain can’t see. Nobody I know cares about this man’s skin color; that is of no concern at all. President Obama’s left-wing policies and beliefs are what people don’t like. People aren’t thrilled with the direction he’s taking our country, and they aren’t happy with the horrendous debt he’s forcing down the throats of Americans.

Just who is hating this president? Would you be more specific? Take your head out of the sand and realize what’s going on; it has nothing to do with this man’s race; rather, his march to socialism or worse, is at the center of the debate.

I will never fall in love with this man’s hurtful ideals. I do hate what he’s doing to this great nation of ours; there is no hate for the president.

    • I have to agree with Pastor Ron. This has nothing to do with the color of President Obama’s skin and everything to do with his policies. As the Pastor said, if you would take time to read the articles on this blog, you would understand that.

    • Dr. Martin Luther King always pushed that a man should be judged by the content of his character and not his skin color. On this test Obama comes up deficient in all regards. He’s been spinning lies to get elected, has well documented ties to corruption and unethical people. And if you’re a follower of Jesus Christ, Obama comes up on the wrong side of God on many issues, abortion, homosexuality…

I’m a white man married to a black woman, and I don’t care what our leader’s skin color is as long as he’s a man of moral character and a follower of Jesus Christ. And we’ve had black men that meet this criteria, but America won’t elect them.

I’m not hating, just stating the facts the nation ignores. I find it funny that people who reduce everything to race are themselves focused on race and can’t see the truth beyond skin color.

      • Bugz, you hit the nail on the regarding many issues. The president has failed, and continues to fail, on race, abortion, homosexuality and other vitally important subjects.

I am also with you about black men who would have been great as president, but America doesn’t want a conservative black man; it does, however, want a left-wing radical to sit at the helm. Amazing!

You said “I find it funny that people who reduce everything to race are themselves focused on race and can’t see the truth beyond skin color.” That is aptly put.
